The Five W’s of Corporate Events
Corporate events are our business. We deliver innovative, on-brand events for our clients.
Whether you’re entertaining clients, rewarding employees, launching a new product or clinching a major deal; we know what it takes to create the perfect corporate event.
We live by one rule when designing a corporate event – how does it translate into real growth for your business?
There are five simple steps to follow that most businesses seem to fail to get right when organising a corporate event – the Who, What, When, Where and Why.
1. The same old crowd (the Who)
You’ll have probably seen the same old faces at every event you’ve attended. It’s a safe bet if you invite the same people every time, but why not mix it up?
Make sure you try and invite individuals who can benefit you. Many events are often full of people who have no useful end purpose to your business. Think about who you need to invite and cut out the dead weight.
Play the long game. Invite individuals who don’t necessarily benefit you but can benefit your clients. They’ll remember the next time it comes to do business, and your efforts might just pay off in the long run.
New faces at your event will keep the conversation flowing and the mood light.
2. The wrong team (the What)
When organising an event make sure you pick the right team to do it.
At Samuel James Events we’re experts at putting together bespoke, creative and innovative events. It’s what we do.
We always come up with innovative event solutions with exquisite food and outstanding service that will impress your guests. Whether it’s formal dining with a wine tasting, or a more relaxed affair with cocktail mixology – we’ve got it covered.

3. Failure to plan (the When)
While we can deliver corporate events at short notice, a longer lead time gives us more time to develop a more unique and tailored experience with your guiding hand.
Perfecting the details is the difference between a good event and an exceptional one. With more time to plan, your event can go much further on a smaller budget.
Let us plan your event to perfection. It really does make the difference.
4. A boring venue (the Where)
Everybody receives countless invites landing on their desks, and guess what, most go straight in the bin.
Make sure your event stands out by choosing a venue that offers something a little different.
Remember, your guests have been to numerous hotel conference rooms and restaurants, so make sure you pick a venue that wows. It can bring the big players to the table.
5. No focus on end goals (the Why)
Most corporate events entail a three course meal, canapé and drinks or a buffet. To be honest that’s because it’s the easy way out.
You need to think why you are hosting your event and tailor your event according. Your priority should always be generating results for your business.
If it’s a networking event, a three course meal isn’t going to work – you need your guests to be free to move around.
If it’s the annual Christmas do, then your staff probably don’t want yet another turkey dinner. They would probably much rather be entertained and have a well-stocked bar to hand instead.
Tailor your event to your guests, your goals and you’ll reap the benefits. Make sure you check out our corporate events page for a little inspiration.
