Summer Time is Barbecue Time
What glorious weather we had this weekend!
Hot summer sun, blue skies and a cold beer…ah bliss!
And that got us thinking, what better way is there to celebrate this fine summer weather than to light up the barbie?
Here’s our guide to the perfect BBQ this summer.
Firstly, no barbecue is complete without the drink flowing. We suggest making a classic Pimms pitcher and homemade pink lemonade. Also, put your beers and cider in bucket of ice to chill. There’s nothing worse than a warm beer in the sun!
Now for the food. You can’t beat a good burger and sausage on the BBQ. We suggest a 100% beef steak burger topped with melted Monterey Jack, and a proper sausage from your local butcher. Believe us, it will make all the difference.
Chicken breasts marinated in BBQ sauce or spare ribs in sticky five-spice glaze make great eats on the barbecue. For the vegetarians amongst you, how about wrapping salmon fillets in foil with lemon, dill and parsley? We call this method ‘en papillote’ in the trade, don’t you know!
To serve, why not cook up some new potatoes in garlic and rosemary on the barbie? Maybe even a few classic corn on the cobs brushed with chilli butter?
For the salads why not try making a Moroccan-style couscous with sultanas and almonds? Or, how about just a simple Caesar salad with anchovies and parmesan. Yum!
Then if anybody still has room to fill, what about gooey chocolate brownies and vanilla ice cream or a fresh fruit pavlova? Delicious!
Happy Barbecuing!
Thinking of doing something a little extra special? Want to entertain round the barbecue but not cook? That’s fine, we’re here to help! We’ll don our chef hats and wheel out the barbie – leaving you free to entertain guests, have a good drink and most of all, have fun!
