A Christmas Day Event
As the saying goes, ‘there’s no rest for the wicked’, and at Samuel James Events it rings so true. On the morning of Thursday 25th December 2014 (Christmas Day to most of you!) we were packing up our van and not opening our presents as we prepared to head off to work.
In one of Cheshire’s finest neighbourhoods, Hale, we would be catering for a VIP client on Christmas Day. By taking away all the stress of cooking the turkey, roasting the parsnips and lighting the Christmas pudding, the family were free to enjoy their day in the company of loved ones, friends and family.
Through the large gates, up the drive and into the grand rooms of the house, fifteen guests would be treated to a luxurious and delicious Christmas Dinner. Our client approached us for a Traditional Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings. From Christmas inspired canapés as family arrived, to a three course dinner round the large oak dining table and a cheese selection to nibble at throughout the evening; everything was taken care of. No slaving in the kitchen, no washing up, no worrying about topping up your guests glasses – it’s all done for you!
Family and friends enjoyed canapés such as Devils on Horseback, Smoked Salmon Crepes, Filo Cups of Brie and Cranberry, and Chicken Liver Parfait on Toasted Brioche; while sipping on glasses of Vintage Champagne, Aged Port and Christmas Cocktails.
As the afternoon progressed guests took their seats as the meal was served. Firstly, a Trio of Scottish Salmon including Beetroot Cured, Oak Smoked and Potted was served with Shards of Crisp Wholemeal Bread. Following this was the main event, a Traditional Christmas Dinner of Whole Roast Turkey basted in Butter and Juices, Twice Roasted Potatoes, Honey Roast Parsnips, Sautéed Brussel Sprouts, Braised Red Cabbage, Carrot and Swede, Pigs in Blankets, Bread Sauce, three Stuffing’s, Homemade Cranberry Sauce and Proper Turkey Gravy. It was a feast fit for Henry VIII himself!
While the guests took a break and partook in some games, Chef prepared the Individual Christmas Puddings which were then sent to table flaming in brandy and served with White Sauce and Ice Cream. Kids were treated to a Gooey Chocolate Brownie Pudding and Ice Cream – it didn’t last long!
So after starting at 6am at the unit and getting home at 10.30pm, we may have had a bit of a long day, but, we were truly satisfied knowing that we had helped create a stress free Christmas Day for our client. It was now time for us to open our presents!
